SBMPOC has working with Olympians and local schools, to develop K-12 curricula allowing area students to interact with Olympic alumni, current Olympians and Olympic hopefuls in meaningful ways. The curricula created in partnership with Olympic Alumni, the Ashton Elementary School and the Scharf Group is debuting in Sarasota and will be shared with other competition organizing committee throughout the country. During the 45 "Olympian Talk Olympic alumni discuss their personal journey within the Olympic Movement, the benefits of healthy competition, how the Olympics impacted their understanding of diverse cultures. "Our World Cup Team, Developed in partnership with Ashton Elementary School and the Scharf Group focuses on the Olympic Sport of Modern Pentathlon, develops and stimulate global awareness in students through activities in support of the 2016 UIPM Modern Pentathlon World Cup.
Ashton Elementary School and Booker Elementary School Book Drive
During the competition event spectators
may bring a new or gently used book to Nathan Benderson Park and the Sarasota
YMCA and receive free admission for two to the games. Books will then be donated to Booker
Elementary School Library. In addition
on May 6, 8:30 to 10:30, USAP Pentathletes will visit Booker Elementary School
to build Bookcases alongside PTO members.
This relationship also supports the athletes, Booker and Ashton Elementary Schools will
provide letter of welcome for all athletes as well as cheering sections at the
games for all counties.
Hosted at the John and Mable Ringling Museum this event begins at 5:30 pm and features the Players Flash Tappers, Manatee High School Choir and Band, the Parade of Athletes and welcoming remarks by International Olympic Committee Representatives. The Evening will also mark the world debut of two new musical compositions including the Official UIPM World Cup Final Anthem inspired by the Olympic Sport of Modern Pentathlon and the world debut of They Are Our Hero's inspired by Olympian and their pursuit of the Olympic Motto Higher, Stronger, and Faster. , Join Evie's Tavern and Gold Coast Eagle Distributors on Main Street in welcoming the Pentathletes and Olympians from over 28 nations to Sarasota before they travel to the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio. Join them for a beer, enjoy entertainment planned or Bowl round.
A pent-art-a-thon of Sarasota and Manatee Arts and Culture. Beginning at 5:30, Ceremonies include the Parade of Flags, performances by Scottish piper Gary Reinstrom , nationally recognized singer / songwriter, Matt Walton, The Manatee High School Marching Band, Manatee High School Choir, Cirque Sarasota, and a few surprise Guests.
