K - 12: Developing K-12 national standards based curricula such as "Olympian Talks and "Our World Cup Team, allows area students to interact with Olympic alumni, current Olympians and Olympic hopefuls in meaningful ways.
Work Force Development: Working with University of South Florida, Ringling College of Art & Design, Keiser University, Argosy University, Community Youth Development, and New College of Florida, TOF and SBMPOC are developing a formalized internship and stipend job training initiative focused upon developing a local workforce capable of managing international sports events planned for the area.
Healthy Body
The Sarasota Bradenton Modern Pentathlon Organizing Committee's (SBMPOC) efforts develop patronage between small-scale regional sustainable farms, local hotels, colleges, caterers, and restaurants provides healthy meals for 7 days for 900 visiting athletes and dignitaries, guests, and volunteers generating much needed revenue to the area's agriculture industry while building our regions food capacity to feed itself. Additionally, during the competition, farms will have an opportunity to participate in the Farm to Table Festival.
Healthy Soul
The TOF and SBMOPC work with over 80 area groups to provide 17,000 free tickets each year to not-for-profit organizations. These working relationships also result in an international platform for area arts organizations, individual visual and performing artists, clubs and not-for-profits through performances, exhibits and special events. Collaborative relationships with organizations such as the Players Theater of Sarasota and the The Cuban Ballet School provide stage time on camera for school alumni and local professionals.
Programs such as our featured artists program provide exhibit space as well as performance time at the competition venues and during opening and closing ceremonies. Cooperative partnerships with organizations such as the Ed Couch Education Foundation provide area students the opportunity to compose event commissioned piece of Olympic inspired music to be performed throughout the competition. Olympian focused art exhibits showcase the talents of world renowned artists, Olympic alumni, collegiate art, as well as world youth. "Art of the Pentathlon (exhibited March - May, 2016) features 14 Competition themed posters designed by Ringling College of Art and Design student for past Modern Pentathlon competitions. "Olympian Ring of Arts is an exhibit centered on the themes of athleticism, leadership, and integrity featuring the work of Robert Rauschenberg, five Olympians turned professional artists and selected works of art by children from around the World.
